The MRI scan uses magnetic and radio waves, meaning that there is no exposure to X-rays or any other damaging forms of radiation. It then creates detailed cross-sectional images of the body’s anatomy.
A MRI scan will only take around half an hour to an hour and you will need to arrange an appointment for this after your consultation at The Spine Surgery London.
For majority of MRI scan examinations, there is no preparation required and if preparation is required, a member of staff will contact you with instructions.
If you are claustrophobic it is very important that you inform us so we can tell the MRI department and an open MRI (an open MRI has wider tunnels) scan can be arranged.
