Bone density scanning is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss.
A DEXA scan stands for 'dual energy X-ray absorptiometry'. It is a test that measures the density of bones. Density means how much of something there is in a certain amount of space. The denser the tissue, the less X-rays pass through.
A DEXA scan will only take about half an hour. There is no other specific preparation required for this scan.
If you need to have a DEXA scan, you will need to go to The Princess Grace Hospital. We will arrange this for you after your consultation at The Spine Surgery London.
