The Princess Grace Hospital

The Princess Grace Hospital has 120 beds, including a Level 3 intensive care unit, with 24-hour consultant cover, and a high dependency unit. All private rooms benefit from en-suite facilities, a nurse call system, direct-dial telephone, remote control satellite television and outstanding levels of service and cuisine.
If you decide to have a procedure with The Spine Surgery then you will be asked to come along to this hospital.
Check in
Please make sure you arrive at the time the Spine Surgery team has told you and report to the main reception where you will greeted and your details confirmed before being escorted to your room where a member of the reception staff will show your the facilities. Once you are settled one of the excellent nursing team will come to see you, carry out some basic medical checks (blood pressure and temperature) and a brief history. This is your chance to ask any questions that you might have and to let the nurse know about any allergies to foods, drugs or dressings.
Please bring along with you:
- Night wear, dressing gown and slippers
- Face flannel, toiletries and toothbrush
- Shaving kit and adaptor, if electrical
- Reading material (books, magazines)
- All previous relevant X-Rays in your possession
- Any medication (in original containers)
- Mobile phones (please note that discretion is advised on the use of mobile phones; in some areas of the hospital they will be prohibited)
Your Room
All rooms are single bedded, en-suite, with direct dial telephones and a television with access to a comprehensive range of satellite and terrestrial channels. Your room will be cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied regularly.

The Princess Grace Hospital has 8 theatres across 2 sites, all with the very latest technology to help your surgeon complete your procedure.
During your Stay
While you are in hospital you will be cared for by our highly qualified team of professionals. The consultant who arranged your admission will continue to be in charge of your clinical care throughout your stay at the hospital.
- A resident medical officer is available in the hospital 24 hours a day
- A fully equipped intensive care and high dependency unit with specialist intensivist fellows and consultant intensivists on call 24 hours a day
- Specialist nurses who assist with pre and post operative care and counselling
- Fully trained ward nurses to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible
- Pharmacists to counsel you about your medication
Discharge, support and after care
When your procedure has been completed and you are leaving the hospital remember to take everything with you. One of the nursing team may arrange a time with you to come back to review any dressings.
If, once you have got home problems arise, help is available from a number of sources.
First, you may ring the office number. If it is during working hours, this is certainly what you should do. The secretarial staff will be able to contact your surgeon, the clinical assistants or our spinal nurse can also advice for you.
Second, you may ring the hospital and ask to speak to my Spinal Nurse. In her absence, you should ask to speak to the hospital’s Duty Manager or to the ward staff. Telephone numbers can be found in our Contact Us section.
You may of course contact your general practitioner or any emergency service should you so wish or if the other avenues fail.
We do not provide a 24 hour emergency service but can respond on most occasions.
